Marine and offshore services across the GCC

ACTION delivers marine pumping, cleaning, cutting and surface preparation across the GCC for vessels, rigs, offshore platforms and subsea pipelines, from vessel ballasting and marine growth removal to cold cutting where hot work isn’t permitted. Our offshore technicians and engineers select the methods and equipment for each environment and supervise the work themselves.

Offshore and at the quayside, work runs around changing sea and weather conditions, constrained access and strict controls on hot work. Our marine equipment is built and prepared in our own workshops, from custom deck-mounted ballast pumps to ultra-high-pressure jetting units built around Hughes fluid ends, and specified to each project’s certification requirements, including offshore-certified crash frames and ATEX-compliant electric units where required.

When the weather window opens, our crews and equipment are ready to go, from the largest specialised fleet in the region.

What Marine & Offshore services does ACTION provide?

From ballasting to cold cutting, ACTION delivers six specialist marine and offshore services across the GCC. Each is planned around access, sea state and the permits each site allows, and delivered with our own fleet and crews. Take one service or combine several under one contract, with one team accountable from method statement to demobilisation.

Vessel Ballasting

Ballast moved to the load-out plan.

Load-outs, float-outs and barge operations depend on ballast moving at the rate the plan sets. ACTION supplies and operates custom deck-mounted ballast pumps, up to 250 m³/h, with a low profile that keeps clearance for SPMT movements across the deck.

Marine Growth Removal

Growth cleared from platforms, vessels and subsea lines.

Marine growth adds weight and drag to structures and hides what inspectors need to see. ACTION clears it from platforms, vessels and subsea pipelines with high-flow and high-pressure water jetting, with chemical injection where authority regulations allow.

Cold Cutting

Steel cut with no sparks and no heat.

Where hot work isn’t permitted, steel still has to be cut. ACTION uses water jet cutting to sever steel, pipe and structures with no sparks or heat, which removes the ignition source from hydrocarbon environments.

Hydrodemolition

Marine concrete removed, reinforcement left intact.

Quay walls, jetties and offshore concrete structures take a beating from salt and sea. ACTION applies its high-pressure concrete removal method to marine and offshore structures, taking out deteriorated concrete with minimal vibration and leaving the reinforcement clean and ready for repair.

Surface Preparation

Cleaned and ready for coating, with minimal dust.

Steel at sea needs a properly prepared surface for its coating to protect it. ACTION prepares marine and offshore surfaces with wet blasting that degreases and cleans in one step, with minimal dust and a choice of finishes to suit the coating specification.

Equipment Sea Fastening

Equipment secured for transport and work at sea.

Pumps, generators and spreads have to stay put on a moving deck. ACTION secures its equipment for transport and operation at sea, to the vessel and project requirements.

How we work

How does ACTION deliver marine and offshore work?

One team. From method statement to demobilisation.

Every scope starts with the asset, the sea and weather conditions, and the controls the site sets.

  • Consult
We review the asset, access, permits and weather windows early, while method and equipment choices can still shape the plan. If the survey data doesn’t give us enough to plan on, we say so and recommend what’s needed

  • Engineer
Our engineers select the methods and equipment, specify them to the project’s certification requirements and prepare the method statements and risk assessments. Our workshop prepares and tests the equipment to match.

  • Deliver
Our offshore technicians and engineers mobilise, carry out and supervise the work themselves. All work runs under our ISO 45001-certified safety management system and follows the IOGP Life-Saving Rules.

  • Control
Our engineers track progress and results against the method statement. When the scope is complete, we demobilise and hand over the full record.

FAQ’s

Marine and offshore services: frequently asked questions

Not finding what you are looking for? Let us help.

Does ACTION work beyond marine and offshore projects?2026-10-30T08:31:35+00:00

Yes. ACTION works across construction, oil and gas, industrial, municipal and marine projects throughout the GCC, with seven service lines: Construction, Pipeline & Process, Industrial, Municipal, Environmental, Marine & Offshore, and Rental & Sales.

Where does ACTION provide marine and offshore services?2026-10-30T08:31:02+00:00

ACTION provides marine and offshore services across the GCC, in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait, from a regional network of depots and crews.

Is ACTION’s equipment certified for offshore use?2026-10-30T08:30:22+00:00

Equipment is specified to each project’s certification requirements. ACTION’s range includes offshore-certified crash frames on water jetting units and ATEX-compliant electric units for hazardous areas.

What is vessel ballasting used for?2026-10-30T08:29:45+00:00

Ballasting moves water in and out of a vessel or barge to control its trim and draught, for example during load-outs and float-outs. ACTION supplies and operates custom deck-mounted ballast pumps up to 250 m³/h, with a low profile that keeps clearance for SPMT movements.

What does marine growth removal involve?2026-10-30T08:29:15+00:00

Marine growth removal clears mussels, barnacles, weed and other growth from submerged structures, vessels and pipelines, to reduce weight and drag and allow inspection. ACTION uses high-flow and high-pressure water jetting, with chemical injection where authority regulations allow.

What is cold cutting, and why is it used offshore?2026-10-30T08:28:45+00:00

Cold cutting severs steel and pipe without heat or sparks. It is used where hot work isn’t permitted, such as on live hydrocarbon facilities, because it removes the ignition source. ACTION cold cuts with water jet cutting.

Can ACTION deliver a full marine scope under one contract?2026-10-30T08:28:20+00:00

Yes. ACTION can combine ballasting, marine growth removal, cold cutting, hydrodemolition, surface preparation and sea fastening under one contract, with one team accountable from method statement to demobilisation. For offshore and subsea pipelines, ACTION’s Pipeline & Process team can take on the pre-commissioning under the same contract.

What marine and offshore services does ACTION provide?2026-10-30T08:27:47+00:00

ACTION provides vessel ballasting, marine growth removal, cold cutting, hydrodemolition, surface preparation and equipment sea fastening for vessels, rigs, offshore platforms and subsea pipelines across the GCC.
