Industrial cleaning and shutdown support across the GCC

ACTION supports operating plant across the GCC’s oil and gas, petrochemical and utilities sectors with hydrojetting, heat exchanger bundle cleaning, tank cleaning and testing, surface preparation, hydrodemolition, and nitrogen purging and inerting. Our engineers plan each scope with your shutdown team, and our own crews carry it out with equipment from the largest specialised fleet in the region, from single equipment hire to long-term maintenance campaigns.

Shutdowns and turnarounds run to fixed windows, and any overrun affects the plant’s schedule, its production and every contractor working to the same restart. ACTION plans its scope to that window, and holds registrations and approvals with operators including ADNOC, Saudi Aramco, SABIC, KNPC, BAPCO, NPCC and ENOC.

When the window runs through the night, so do our crews. On connected equipment, AURA (ACTION Unified Real-Time Assurance) brings readings into one operating picture and flags exceptions against limits set by our engineers, so our specialists can act before an issue reaches your plant.

Construction services

What Industrial services does ACTION provide?

From hydrojetting to nitrogen purging, ACTION delivers seven specialist industrial services across the GCC. Each is planned around your shutdown window and delivered with our own fleet and crews. Take one service or combine several under one contract, with one team accountable from method statement to handover.

High Pressure Cleaning (Hydrojetting)

Fouling cleared from process equipment, pipework and structures.

Scale, hydrocarbon residue and process deposits build up in exchangers, vessels, pipework and drains, and a shutdown is the chance to clear them.

ACTION cleans process equipment, pipework and structures with high and ultra-high-pressure water jetting, from skid, trailer and truck-mounted units, with ATEX-compliant electric options for hazardous areas. Our ultra-high-pressure units run at up to 2,750 bar. As an authorised Hughes distributor, we build fluid ends supplied direct from Hughes’ UK manufacturing facility into complete units in our own workshops.

Heat Exchanger Bundle Cleaning

Bundles out, cleaned inside and out, and back in.

A fouled heat exchanger loses efficiency every day it stays in service.

ACTION extracts bundles with remote-controlled bundle extractors rated to 45 tonnes, handling bundles up to 11 m long. Automated lance systems then clean the tube side and the shell side, with operators kept clear of the jet. Our inside cleaners work several tubes at once, which shortens the time each bundle spends out of service.

Reinsertion follows, ready for box-up.

Tank Testing & Monitoring

Filled, held and recorded before service.

A new or repaired tank has to prove its integrity before it goes into service. ACTION carries out hydrostatic tank testing from start to finish: water supply, controlled filling, level monitoring through the hold, and safe discharge of the test water afterwards. Pumps and temporary storage come from our own fleet, so filling and emptying run to the test plan.

Tank Cleaning

Sludge recovered, with less confined-space entry.

Storage and process tanks collect sludge, sediment and residual product that have to come out before inspection, repair or a change of service.

ACTION uses automated mechanical tank cleaning to recover oil and sludge, which reduces the need for people to enter the tank. Where entry is needed, our crews work under permit-to-work and confined-space controls.

Recovered oil and waste are handled to the applicable requirements, and where the water needs treating, our Environmental team takes it on.

Surface Preparation

Surfaces cleaned and ready for coating.

A coating lasts as long as the surface underneath allows. ACTION prepares steel and concrete with wet blasting and water jetting that degrease and clean in one step, with minimal dust, which matters on a live plant where dust and abrasive have to stay contained. The finish is set to the coating specification.

Hydrodemolition

Concrete removed, reinforcement left intact.

Plant foundations, bunds and structures need repair without damage to the concrete that stays. ACTION uses ultra-high-pressure water to remove deteriorated concrete around reinforcement and embedded steel, with minimal vibration and no micro-cracking of the remaining concrete. The steel is left clean and the surface textured, ready for repair material.

Nitrogen Purging & Inerting

A safe atmosphere before the line is opened.

Before a line or vessel is opened for maintenance, or returned to hydrocarbon service, its atmosphere has to be made safe. ACTION purges and inerts pipelines, vessels and process systems with nitrogen generated on site, displacing oxygen, moisture and hydrocarbons until readings meet the specified limits.

Our nitrogen package is ACTION-owned. High-capacity compressors feed filtration and desiccant dryers, and a hollow-fibre membrane separates nitrogen from the air. The nitrogen goes straight into the system at the flow the job needs, with no liquid nitrogen deliveries to schedule. Our engineers plan the sequence against the shutdown window, monitor oxygen content and dew point at the outlet, and record every reading for handover.

How we work

What Industrial services does ACTION provide?

One team. From planning to handover.
Every scope starts with the shutdown window, the equipment in scope and what the plant needs back.

  • Consult
We join shutdown planning early, while scope, sequence and access can still shape the plan. If the equipment data or isolation plan doesn’t give us enough to plan on, we say so and recommend what’s needed.

  • Engineer
Our engineers prepare the method statements, risk assessments, permits and isolations, and select the equipment for each task. Our workshop prepares and tests the equipment going to site, so it arrives ready for the duty.

  • Deliver
Our own crews carry out the scope inside the window, under the plant’s permit-to-work system. All work runs under our ISO 45001-certified safety management system and follows the IOGP Life-Saving Rules.

  • Control
Our engineers track progress and results against the shutdown plan. When the scope is complete, we demobilise in sequence and hand over the full record.

Across all four stages, AURA brings connected assets into one operating picture and flags exceptions against limits set by our engineers. Our engineers decide and act.

FAQ’s

Industrial cleaning and shutdowns: frequently asked questions

Not finding what you are looking for? Let us help.

Does ACTION work beyond industrial plant?2026-10-29T14:02:15+00:00

Yes. ACTION works across construction, oil and gas, industrial, municipal and marine projects in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait, with seven service lines: Construction, Pipeline & Process, Industrial, Municipal, Environmental, Marine & Offshore, and Rental & Sales.

Which operators is ACTION registered with?2026-10-29T14:01:20+00:00

ACTION holds registrations and approvals with operators and energy companies across the GCC, including ADNOC, Saudi Aramco, SABIC, KNPC, BAPCO, NPCC and ENOC.

How does AURA support industrial work?2026-10-29T14:00:42+00:00

AURA (ACTION Unified Real-Time Assurance), built on ARMS, ACTION’s remote monitoring system, brings connected equipment into one operating picture and flags exceptions against limits set by ACTION engineers, who decide and act. Readings, alerts and interventions are recorded. Coverage and reporting are agreed for each scope, and clients receive the agreed reporting through ACTION.

Can I hire industrial cleaning equipment from ACTION?2026-10-29T13:59:57+00:00

Yes. ACTION supplies bundle extractors, bundle cleaning systems, ultra-high-pressure water jetting units, compressors and generators on dry hire or with ACTION operators, from the largest specialised fleet in the GCC.

How does on-site nitrogen generation work?2026-10-29T13:59:18+00:00

Compressed air is filtered and dried, then passed through a hollow-fibre membrane. Oxygen and water vapour pass through the membrane walls faster than nitrogen, so they are vented and nitrogen continues to the pipeline or vessel at the required purity.

What is nitrogen purging and inerting?2026-10-29T13:58:40+00:00

Nitrogen purging replaces the air, moisture or hydrocarbons inside a pipeline or vessel with nitrogen, an inert gas. Inerting keeps the system filled with nitrogen, holding oxygen below the level at which a flammable mix can form. ACTION provides both across the GCC, using nitrogen generated on site with its own equipment.

Can tank cleaning be done without confined-space entry?2026-10-29T13:58:10+00:00

Often in part. ACTION uses automated mechanical tank cleaning to recover oil and sludge, which reduces the need for people to enter the tank. Where entry is still required, it is carried out under permit-to-work and confined-space controls.

How does ACTION work to a shutdown or turnaround schedule?2026-10-29T13:57:24+00:00

ACTION plans its scope with the client’s shutdown team before the window opens, covering method statements, permits, isolations, equipment and crews. The work is sequenced to the agreed scope, shutdown plan and acceptance requirements, so it supports the planned restart.

Can ACTION work on a live or operating plant?2026-10-29T13:56:44+00:00

Yes. ACTION’s crews work on operating and brownfield plant under the client’s permit-to-work system, with method statements, isolations and risk assessments prepared for each task, and training that includes confined-space entry and hazardous cleaning.

How are heat exchanger bundles cleaned?2026-10-29T13:56:10+00:00

The bundle is pulled from its shell with a bundle extractor, cleaned on the tube side and the shell side with high-pressure water, then reinserted. ACTION uses remote-controlled extractors rated to 45 tonnes, for bundles up to 11 m long, and automated lance systems that keep operators clear of the jet.

What is hydrojetting?2026-10-29T13:55:18+00:00

Hydrojetting is cleaning with high or ultra-high-pressure water to remove scale, deposits and residue from process equipment, pipework, tanks and structures. ACTION runs hydrojetting units at up to 2,750 bar, from skid, trailer and truck-mounted units, with ATEX-compliant electric options for hazardous areas.

Can ACTION deliver a full shutdown scope under one contract?2026-10-29T13:54:48+00:00

Yes. ACTION can combine its industrial services, from hydrojetting and bundle cleaning to tank testing and nitrogen purging, under one contract, with one team accountable from method statement to handover. ACTION’s engineers plan the scope with the client’s shutdown team, and its own crews and fleet carry it out.
