48″ Subsea Pipeline Flushing

The project

Overview

Seawater flushing, pressure testing and chemical cleaning of a 48-inch subsea pipeline.

ACTION designed and installed the pumping, filtration, power and water-storage system for the Fujairah project.

The requirement

Project challenge

Connecting the sea intake to the pipeline.

The system needed to supply seawater to a suction point approximately one kilometre from the sea, supporting the required flow rate and chemical dosing during continuous operation.

The response

ACTION solution

  • Sea intake and storage
Submersible pumps transferred seawater into 20-foot break tanks via discharge hoses routed through the boundary wall.

  • Pipeline supply
Centrifugal pumps drew from the tanks and supplied the pipeline through a 630 mm HDPE discharge line.
  • Chemical dosing
Chemical injection pumps dosed the line as required through a half-inch connection
